The Traffic Division/Motor Team is responsible for:
- Investigating all major (fatal, severe injury, officer involved) accidents
- Reducing accidents in high accident areas
- Responding to complaints of traffic violations in residential neighborhoods
- Reduction of impaired drivers (D.U.I.) on the road
The Traffic Division will also respond to your complaints of traffic violations in residential neighborhoods. If you have a problem with speeders in your neighborhood, you can contact the police non-emergency number, 782-4130, and request a 'Frequent Patrol' to address the traffic problem or CLICK HERE to request a Frequent Patrol on-line.
The Motor Team currently has 1 sergeant and 6 motor officers assigned solely to search for and arrest impaired (D.U.I.) drivers.
The Traffic Division is under the direction of Lieutenant Henry. He is responsible for 18 officers and 3 sergeants.
Sgt. Dean Lavergne is the coordinator for all departmental tow related matters, ensuring that the contract towing company meets all the conditions of its contract with the city and that citizens whose vehicles are towed by the contract company are not 'stuck' with unfair or unreasonable bills.
If you have any questions regarding the Traffic Division, please contact Sgt. Lavergne at 480-782-4852, Mike Colvin at 480-782-4853, or Sgt. Charlie Cote at 480-782-4854.
